I ran, danced, jumped and partied on Orchard Road!

Hi there owls!

How have you been? So over the past few weeks, I've been attending quite a few events... This being one of them:

*~ Pedestrian Night on Orchard Road ~*

Let me start of by saying I HAVE NEVER (willingly) JAYWALKED IN MY ENTIRE LIFE.... So I was a little apprehensive about walking on the ORCHARD ROAD?! But I tucked aside my goody-two-shoe ways for the sake of having fun.

I'm sure you've all heard of it by now as I'm a bit late for this blog post (oops! I blame internship T_T)... Like every Pedestrian Night, roads were closed (the stretch between Scotts Road and Bideford Road) and everyone could WALK ON THE ROADS!!! It was preeeetttty cool. I'll just let the visual speak for themselves!

NO ERP FOR ME.. I TRAVEL ON FOOT.... (ok lame bye)

There were tons of balloon sculptors and other street performers everywhere!
From a far, I saw a huge crowd gathering around this bunch of balloons. It was quite amusing to watch all the kiasu people fighting for balloons (even though, deep inside, kiasu me wanted one too...)

 #Selfie ON Orchard Road!
I was SOOO excited to get my favourite $1 (NOW IT'S $1.20) ice cream from the iconic potong ice cream carts. Let me side track a little here - does anyone else notice that some carts are Magnolia and some are King's?! I just realised they used different umbrellas... Not too sure if the ice cream is the same but both taste fine to me so... :D *happily continues eating*
As night fell, the roads got more and more crowded. Orchard Road was really coming to life right before my eyes! Local band, Flame Of The Forest, also played a set and filled the whole place with their beautiful instrumental tunes.

If you're like me and don't really fancy staying out in Singapore's heat for too long, you might be interested in the flash sales that went on! For just an hour each, stores had crazy sales of up to 50%.

I had so much fun! It was definitely an experience I'll remember the next time I drive through this legendary road.

If you missed Pedestrian Night, don't fret! It was just the beginning. There is going to be a Pedestrian Night for every first Saturday of a new month from July to December 2015!

Till next time then!

xoxo Miranda

It's music to my ears!

Hey music junkies!

I've got a treat for you today... I was invited to attend HARMAN's recently product launch earlier this month at the Royal Plaza at Scotts and I had a blast!
HARMAN who??? For those who are scratching and turning their heads in confusion now... Let me break it down for you.
HARMAN designs and engineers connected products and solutions for consumers, automakers, and enterprises worldwide, including audio, visual and infotainment systems. With leading brands including AKG, Harman Kardon and JBL, HARMAN is admired by audiophiles, musicians and entertainment venues worldwide!

Let's start talking about the products, shall we?

AKB N90q
This beauty right here is AKG's new flagship headphone - the N90q! It's a pair of auto-calibrating noise-cancelling headphones.. A lot of big fancy words but to break it down, it's a pair of headphones that LISTEN to your ears and adjusts itself to provide the best listening experience for its user! Sounds (haha sounds get it, cause music?) strange right, how does it even work?! Well, AKG's TruNote technology allows precision sound reproduction. You can be sure that you are only getting the best of the best when it comes to Harman brands!

JBL CHARGE 2+
JBL's CHARGE 2+ comes in the form of colourful portable bluetooth speakers! They are fun and a really nifty size for carrying around! It has an impressive battery of 3.7V, 6000mAh. That's nearly triple of an iPhone 6 and can provide you with at least 12 hours of playtime. It even has a USB jack for your to charge your other devices. Our speaker, Andy, kept mentioning how they are great for pool parties and the outdoors.

Frankly, I was kinda skeptical. Bringing a speaker NEAR WATER?! And into this unpredictable world where it may just drop and crack into two?!!? It was at this moment that Andy knocked the table and ALL the CHARGE 2+ speakers PLONKED onto the floor...

WHAT THE CRAP DUDE?!?!?!?!!?

There was silence in the room......
Did he just break 7 speakers....?! Was that supposed to happen?!

He picked one up, looked at us and laughed, "Oh, did I mention it's REALLY tough!"

Y U DO DIS MAN!?!?!?

He wasn't stopping there. He got a glass of water and just poured it all over the speaker.
The CHARGE 2+ is splashproof, meaning you won't ever have to worry about rain or spills! You can even clean it under a running tap! But do keep in mine that it is SPLASHproof not waterproof so don't submerge it!

Here he is, again, demonstrating the effect the JBL Bass Radiators create when you pour water into them... HOW COOL IS THAT?!?! It looks like one of those dancing water fountains!

JBL PULSE
Isn't this pretty?!?!?!? This is the JBL PULSE. This speaker combines the amazing JBL-wuality sound with a programmable LED light show! It's completely wireless and Bluetooth-enabled so all you have to do is to connect your iPod or smartphone to begin!
The LED lights have a bunch of different settings and they follow the beats of your music! Who needs a disco ball when you have the JBL PULSE?

(I know the thumbnail looks like some creepy human centipede thing but it's a crazy ad of the JBL PULSE!!)

Thank you so much to HARMAN for the wonderful event!

Weekend Buddy

Hello world.
With 3 months left of my internship at MediaCorp, my weekends are pretty much the only times I get to have relax. Most of my Saturdays and Sundays are spent with this guy. We usually just sit and talk for hours and hours. Everyone who knows us always says how it's crazy how we can talk about absolutely anything and still make an intense conversation about it. Stupid conversations really just make sense when you're talking to someone special :)

How do you spend your weekends?

xoxo

The Music Run

Hey guys!

Runs have been the trend right now because everyone wants to keep healthy but in a fun way. I swear my Instagram feed is always filled with pictures of The Colour Run, The Zombie Run, etc. Well, if you've been looking for something different, look no further because The Music Run is here for you!
What is The Music Run?
Calling all music lovers and running enthusiasts! The Music Run™ by AIA, the most interactive fun run that will get hearts thumping and fists pumping to the beat of music, is finally here in Singapore!
Happening on 11 April 2015 at Sentosa, The Music Run™ by AIA promises a brand new running experience as participants run, dance and party, surrounded by over 100 concert quality speakers pumping out tunes every step of the way for total music immersion experience.
The un-timed, non-competitive 5km fun run also puts control of the soundtrack entirely in the hands of participants (aka ‘Music Runner™’). In partnership with Spotify®, the Official Digital Music Partner, Music Runners can decide the music they want to listen to during the run.
Sounds great, doesn't it?

---------

I was invited to attend the launch party for The Music Run™ by AIA earlier this week. It was held at Shuffle Bistro & Bar along Clarke Quay.

(There was a sporty theme... so I tried to comply..)

Coca-cola, being one of sponsors, had their very own booth with a bunch of lovely girls handing out drinks!
If you're all pumped then don't forget to sign up!
Head over to www.themusicrun.com.sg now. Registration ends on 31 March 2015 so gather your friends and register now!!

-------------

Before the launch party, Tao (my plus one) and I went to Billy Bomber's for lunch and I got hooked onto their music. I forgot how good classic American diner music was.  If you're interested in hearing a few, I'll make a list for you (or you could go check out my "Billy Bomber's" playlist on Spotify @ Miranda Rose.
  • It's My Party by Leslie Gore (my fav)
  • Heartbreak Hotel by Elvis Presley (duh)
  • The Locomotion by Little Eva
  • Sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto
  • Pretty Woman Roy Orbison

I'll just leave you with some visuals now :)
(here's picture of my poking my eye)
